  • How do I book a custom cover?

  • What is “Completion Day”?

    Completion Days, the date agreed upon by Danielle and the client, is the day the graphic requests are completed. Danielle does scheduled completions on Thursdays. In order to get on her schedule, a 50% deposit and all information for the completion, needs to be emailed to her by Monday evening.

  • Do you offer rush orders?

    Depending on the time frame, Danielle tries to work out a rush order. However, there is additional fees added to all rush orders based on the package selected for completion.

  • Where does Danielle Leigh find the photos used in her covers?

    All photos used by Danielle Leigh Designs are optained from reputable stock sites like iStock, Shutterstock.com, Adobe Stock and Depositphotos.com.

    For the safety of your business as well as Danielle Leigh Designs, she will never use images from "Free Stock" or "Public Domain/Creative Commons" in her promotional materials or covers. (Sites that list "Public Domain/Creative Commons" images do not check the copyright on images that could be uploaded by anyone.)

  • Will Danielle Leigh Designs obtain images used in their promotional graphics and covers?

    Stock images included in the design fee are sites that Danielle Leigh subscribes to, like Shutterstock.com and Depositphotos.com. If you would like specific stock from a boutique company, photographer, or artist, you will be required to submit proof of purchase before our appointment. Additionally, if you would like to obtain your own image from the aforementioned stock photo sites, you can do so and email it to Danielle Leigh Designs. Alternatively, you may notify Danielle Leigh of your desire to utilize a specific photo site and image number you'd like, and it will be added to your invoice. The cost of the image + $3 will be added to your invoice to account for fees/taxes. Danielle Leigh Designs will not purchase or negotiate a purchase with a photographer or artist on the client’s behalf.

  • Can you make a banner out of the book cover designed by Danielle Leigh Designs?

    If the banner directly pertains to the book it was designed for, yes. Cropped and chopped graphics like banners, ads, teasers, etc. are available for purchase by Danielle Leigh Designs but you also reserve the right to create your own.

  • Can I modify covers completed by Danielle Leigh Designs?

    No. The finalized cover needs to be present on product pages. Modified covers are against the agreed upon contract. Subsequently modified covers are cause for a DMCA take down notice to the retailers with the modified cover.

  • What is the turnaround time for a design project?

    Each package comes with a set number of revisions. Once the revisions are complete, and a mockup of the cover has been agreed upon including text or any small modifications to the cover, it takes 1 week to get all files finalized. Please Note: Danielle Leigh Designs is not responsible for missed deadlines due to poor communication.

  • When is payment due?

    Invoices are due on “completion day” by the client unless clearly specified otherwise. To reserve the cover you want, a non-refundable 50% deposit must be made. Once you approve any MINOR modifications to the cover, an invoice will be sent through PayPal. Once the invoice is sent, you have 24 hours to pay. Failure to do so will put the cover back on the market. There aren’t any refunds or exchanges done after the invoice is paid.

  • Can changes be made to covers after final approvals are made?

    ​No changes are to be made to the cover or promotional graphic by anyone other than Danielle Leigh Designs. Additional charges may apply for any alterations after approval and/or after final files are sent. Changes after the final files are sent will begin at $50 and may increase with the number of files that need to be altered.

  • Can I cancel my cover with Danielle Leigh Designs?

    ​In the event of a cancellation before work has started, no further expenses will be owed. If the work has begun on the project, the remaining balance will be due immediately. Once work is booked, no refund will be given.

  • Can I change my book cover image after work has begun?

    ​If the main cover image changes after work has begun, there will be an additional $50 charge, per image change regardless of who provides the image.

OWNERSHIP

 

Danielle Leigh Designs maintains the full rights of all original designs. Designs and their concept, which includes layout, image style, placement, and fonts aren’t permitted to be recreated by another person.

​The Client maintains the rights to the stock photo that they have downloaded. ​

Danielle Leigh Designs controls the limited rights to the cover to use as any sort of self-promotion, portfolio, client viewing, etc.

ATTRIBUTION

 

Danielle Leigh Designs requires cover design credit appear in client’s book, whether on the cover or inside on the copyright page.

LIABILITY

 

Danielle Leigh Designs isn’t liable for damages of any kind, including loss of revenues, profits, business, reputation, or data, in any way related to our services. Danielle Leigh Designs isn’t responsible for any claim, loss, or injury based on errors or inaccuracies appearing on our site or in our clients’ written documents once the cover has been approved.

​Should Danielle Leigh Designs take longer to complete the project than originally indicated (i.e. family emergency, act of nature), the client will be notified via phone or email in order to agree upon a new project completion date.

PUBLISHING RIGHTS

 

All clients of Danielle Leigh Designs agree to abide by the terms of any license agreement for any royalty-free stock images licensed by Danielle Leigh Designs through any third-party provided for use in final design.

Print runs of up 500,000 are included in licensing, depending on the source.

Additional licensing fees will be required once this threshold has been reached and is the responsibility of the client to pay for additional licensing as needed.

CODE OF FAIR PRACTICE

 

Danielle Leigh Designs acknowledges that to the best of her knowledge, the work prepared is an original creation and has not been previously published and/or consent to use has been obtained. The work prepared does not contain any scandalous, libelous, or unlawful matter. The Client and/or others may not use Danielle Leigh Designs product in any way that may infringe upon the rights of others.

ACCEPTION OF TERMS

 

Both Danielle Leigh Designs and the Client will acknowledge acceptance of these terms. By acknowledging this contract, the Client agrees to hold Danielle Leigh Designs entirely free from any liability, including financial.

AGREEMENT

 

This agreement is the entire agreement of all parties. No additional promises or conditions, written or oral, apply to this agreement that are not included herein. Upon delivery of final files, this agreement is considered fulfilled.

DESIGN SERVICES

 

Prices are subject to change at any time, and without warning. Price is only guaranteed upon receipt of deposit.

PSD FILES

 

Danielle Leigh Designs doesn't offer PSD files. PSD files are Danielle Leigh Designs work layer-by-layer and they don't allow images they've created to be manipulated in any form. You can, however, ask for permission to recreate the series/images you want to use if you're no longer wanting to use Danielle Leigh Designs as a designer.
